Put your kitchen ops on autopilot
Hyphen is an automated makeline designed to increase efficiency in the kitchen with less errors and lower costs. Build perfectly portioned bowls and plates according to your custom recipes. As the Director of Design at Hyphen, some of my responsibilities include product design of two customer-facing applications (KDS and KMS), industrial design of product fascia and overall CMF+L guidance, hardware and software prototyping, and design and implementation of usehyphen.com. The sections below provide deeper dives into a few of these efforts.

Digital Doubles / Kitchen Ops Audting
Prototyped digital double POC using OAK-D camera. Able to track multiple users across sessions, create custom 3D ROIs and track body intersections.
It would be used internally to audit the kitchen operations of new partners during onboarding., anonymously tracking users interaction and movement around the makeline.
Secondly, it could be sold as an add-on drop-in accessory for partners desiring similar insights to optimize their workflows.

ID + 3D Visualization
Cabinet display in the field encountered durability and manufacturing issues that I attempted to address.
I began mocking up some CAD to both visualize a realize solutions. This is a glass + silicone concept to move away from pure non-tactile touch display in existing component.
Next step is to use full silicone face attenuating the thickness and dye for transparency where needed. Creating a function poc is in progress using 8" dot matrix LEDs and custom silicone of my making.

RISK ASSESSMENT
Upgraded front fascia
The existing branding is small and subtle by design in attempt to be restrained in design language. In practice it's hardly noticed under the harsh lighting of a industrial kitchen.
Prototyped a more playful and eye-catching illuminated version. Each hollow 3d printed letter is lighted by a series of light strip segments wired in series to a a single 5v power source.
